Computer is now an integral part of human life. In other words, it plays significant role in many aspect of human endeavour, like education. The challenge therefore is to remain relevant in the competitive education system through the adoption and use of modern technology like computer. Therefore, the role of computer cannot be over emphasized. This research work consists of five chapters, which examine the “Effect of Computer Assisted Instruction on the Academic achievement of Upper Basic School Students in Mathematics in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. The research design was quasi-experimental using a population of one thousand nine hundred and six (1906) and a sample of one hundred and sixty student (160) students, who were divided into experimental and control group. Three research questions as well as three null hypotheses were raised for this study. The instrument for data collection titled Mathematics Achievement Test (MAT) was developed by the researcher. The data obtained was analyzed using independent t-test. The research finding tested at 0.05 level of significance showed that if computers will be used in teaching mathematics it will greatly enhance the teaching and learning of the subject more effectively.
